Lovely weather, fancy a dip?

Are you looking for an outdoor place to have a swim or some water fun with the children? Have they outgrown the paddling pool or is it looking a little sad, a bit greasy from their factor 50 suncream, or are you fearful for the enormous patch of dead grass underneath it? Fear not, we have some great suggestions from around Surrey, Sussex and Kent!

We have been following the refurbishment of the stunning Saltdean Lido, which is wonderful and has just opened which is perfect timing with this hot weather. Also down towards the coast is the great Pells Pool in Lewes, which is very popular, so much so, they’ve closed off their season passes this year so they’re seeing unprecedented demand! Don’t worry though, you can still go and spend time there!

The lido at Guildford is a safe bet for guaranteed fun, but it’s always advisable to get there early as it does get very busy.

Pavilions in the Park in Horsham is fabulous as it delivers on inside and outside swimming exploits! We especially love the lazy river.

Lovely weather, fancy a dip?

There are some fabulous heated (YES really – special treat for those of us who get chilly easily!) pools near the River Arun in Arundel with great views of the castle. Enjoy the 25m main pool or play with the little ones in the large heated paddling area. There are picnic areas, a cafĂ© and shop.

At Burgess Hill there is the Triangle complex which as well as an indoor complex with shoots, rapids and various pools, there’s a large outdoor pool, plus a rapids channel going inside and out again. Great fun!

We’ve spent some fabulous hours with our little ones at the paddling pool next to Hove Lagoon, and can easily spend the whole day here with a picnic. If you’re down that way, you can also find water play at The Level and Kings Road.

Heading west to Splashpoint in Worthing, you will find plenty of indoor swimming, but also an outdoor paddling pool with sun terrace. The added bonus is the view out to sea!

Frensham Great Pond is a beautiful natural environment, offering a great lake for splashing around in complete with it’s own beach. There isn’t much shade so take a shade tent with you if you’ve got little ones. Also keep in touch with the website to check water quality as it can be affected by rainfall. As long as the boxes are ticked, it’s a fantastic place to spend the day.

If you’re closer to Croydon, check out Tooting Bec lido. It’s the largest freshwater pool in the country and has a very welcoming atmosphere. There’s also a paddling pool for the children.

Across in Kent there are indoor pools at Tonbridge, along with a heated outdoor pool with swim channel to and from the indoor pools. It’s popular and operates a band system for busy days.

If you’re feeling a bit more serious about your swimming or have young adults in your family who are, Divers Cove at Godstone could be the place. It focuses on serious open water swimming and scuba diving. Alternatively, it’s just a beautiful location for a breakfast at their cafe, followed by a dog walk! Perhaps not one to take small children to, but if you get some time to yourself, it’s highly recommended.

So we know this isn’t an exhaustive list, can you tell us where your favourite outdoor swimming or splashing locations are? Please share!

We hope you enjoyed reading this blog, and would love to hear from you. If you’re thinking of selling your home, please call the team on 0330 223 1000.

Behind every summer fair…

This seems a very apt blog title for our thoughts over the weekend.  We had the pleasure of running the bar at Reigate Parish Church Primary School’s Summer Fair.  What great fun.. serving chilled glasses of Prosecco topped with a strawberry, Elderflower Fizz and bottles of cold lager.  The thing that always surprises all of us (we are a mixture of ages, some of us have children,  a baby on the way and no children.. at the moment!) is the sheer amount of hard work and energy that goes into organising these events.

As we turned up, the preparation was already underway; bunting being hung from every available ‘hook’ in the playground and in the hall, jam jars filled with flowers used to dress a table laden with home cooked goodies, the aroma of BBQ filling the air and numerous stalls being set up with wrapped sweets, jars and other games and acitivites.  We all know this doesn’t ‘just happen’… it takes weeks of preparation and a large team of truly wonderful people to pull together.  The Reigate & Redhill Move Revoution team know all about hard work… so we find it easy to admire, compliment and ‘pat on the back’ this fantastic team and all those involved.

You know who you all are..this is a big ‘pat on the back’ from us all to all of you (we know we didn’t get photographs of you all!)  This isn’t just about raising money (which we know from personal experience is vital to schools, especially at the moment) it’s about the hundreds and hundreds of smiles (which money can’t buy) which we all saw on Saturday, the laughter, the joy and excitement from all the children who won a prize, had their nails painted shocking turquoise, had glitter tattoos, watched a fantastic magic show, scored an awesome goal and had far far to many sweets to eat (although we’ve never actually seen anyone being sick!).  That’s what it’s all about isn’t it!

We often get asked about how we ‘get involved’, what do we actually do when we are ‘giving back’ to our local community.  It’s so easy to think you know what it’s like to be ‘an estate agent’! For us it’s about ‘really’ getting involved –  it’s important to us that what we do is ‘fun’ as well as raising money and truly supporting our local community.

This year we supported the summer fair with:

  • Branding & Marketing Support (Banners/Postcards)
  • Fortnum & Mason Afternoon Tea Hamper Raffle Prize
  • Our ‘design a plate’ competition – The winners plate was ‘made’ just for them and all entrants received a free studio session at Bluebell Studio
  • And our Reigate & Redhill Move Revolution team running the bar, selling Silent Auction and Raffle tickets!

So… if you are thinking of moving or letting your home in Reigate & Redhill, Louise, Damian and Hannah would love to hear from you, just give them a call on 01737 888220.  You may have already spoken with them whilst being served a Prosecco or a beer! They can’t wait to chat with you!

Our favourite pub gardens

The weather has been simply incredible recently hasn’t it! Whilst our teams have been very busy, they’ve also found some time to get out and about too, so we asked them where they’ve been recently for outdoor drinks. Here they are…and we’d love to hear yours too!

Louise Simpson, Area Sales Manager, Reigate & Redhill

Botley Hill Farmhouse in my opinion has the best pub garden in the area. It has amazing views across the rolling Surrey Hills and quite often a great place to spot hot air balloons passing by! I love meeting friends here for an afternoon catch up.

Paul Mulligan, Area Sales Manager, Croydon

Just up the road from Louise’s suggestion, The White Bear is set in the countryside and has a great beer garden overlooking fields with horses. In the summer they have an outside bar and a BBQ so perfect for the weekend with my family.

Mark Waldron, Area Sales Manager, Sevenoaks

You can get a great pint at the George and Dragon in Chipstead, and the bonus is the amazing menu that has lots of fresh local produce – delicious!

Joey Hansen, Negotiator, Brighton

Hove Place in… you’ve guessed it, Hove! It has an amazing west facing beer garden and the atmosphere is very ‘Hove’. With friendly staff and great food from local suppliers too, it’s one of my favourite places to go.

Zac Ship, Area Sales Manager, Tunbridge Wells

I’m getting married here so it’s fair to say I’m a fan! The gorgeous barn and lovely gardens at The Plough at Leigh are wonderful places to enjoy the delicious food, especially the Sunday lunch. There is also a play area for the children so it’s perfect for a relaxed Sunday afternoon.

Alex Goodman, Area Sales Manager, Brighton

Brighton Music Hall on the seafront is a firm favourite of mine. The seaview sunsets are incredible to watch from the beachside seating area while listening to live music from a varied selection of talented musicians. A perfect chilled out place to catch up with friends.

Damian Bligh, Sales Manager, Reigate & Redhill

I enjoy going to the Carpenters Arms in Limpsfield, as they have a great garden with a BBQ in summer which ticks all my boxes!

Ryan Milson, Negotiator, Croydon

The Derby Arms on Epsom Downs is lovely this time of year, have a stroll on the downs, then tuck into a nice cold beer and some tasty snacks while overlooking the race course. Fantastic!

Russ Markets, Sales Manager, Haywards Heath

I enjoy going to the Black Rabbit in Arundel, and have lunch overlooking the River Arun with the castle in the distance.  They also serve ice cream for dogs which my pug, Rosie, loves! They even have a “dog-wash” for mucky paws or ice-cream whiskers!

Mathew Gurr, Area Sales Manager, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill & Lindfield

Trading Boundaries just by Sheffield Park Gardens is great and has a brilliant play area at the rear so great for families. It has the added bonus of a furniture and accessories shop on site, so there is something for everyone here! It’s not that far from the Bluebell Railway station at Sheffield Park, or you can take a short drive to play Pooh Sticks on Ashdown Forest.

Sue Peyton, Sales Progression Team

I love a long cold glass of pimms in the Red Barn garden, it’s the perfect place to while away a summer afternoon. There is a beautiful garden and if you fancy a day at the races, Lingfield Race Course is just up the road!

This is just a snapshot that we’ve grabbed from our busy team, and we know you’ll have some more places up your sleeve, so please do share with us!

If you’re thinking of moving home, call the team on 0330 223 1000.

Louise Simpson – a profile on our Reigate & Redhill region Area Sales Manager

Louise was brought up locally, attending Whyteleafe Primary School and going on to Warlingham Secondary. It would appear that the property seed was sown early on, as she did two stints of work experience during her latter years at school, alongside waitressing and achieving top tips from her customers in a garden centre cafe at weekends. She worked briefly as a receptionist when she left school, before beginning her career in Estate Agency in earnest. She has always been interested in helping people to find their dream home, something that was born of watching many, many episodes of Kirsty and Phil’s Location Location Location, and she really loves her role at Move Revolution. Having grown up in a traditional Estate Agency, she wanted to be part of a new and refreshing company dedicated to excellent customer service, so she came to work with us and now leads our team in Reigate and Redhill where she brings her incredible work ethic to achieve excellent results.

She enjoys cooking in her spare time and is an expert at perfect roast potatoes! She is always planning her next holiday and loves exploring the local cuisine wherever she is.

Louise still lives locally, and loves Casa Lola in Caterham for tapas, the excellent Indian food at India Dining in Warlingham, and The Bell at Godstone for lazy Sundays. She loves popping into Laura Ashley in Reigate for interiors, and loves a property with original features including tiled floors and cornicing. Here are some of her favourite shots from recent properties. She is a fan of a mix of old and new, with some pops of colour as you can see below:

To chat to Louise or her team, concerning buying or selling in Reigate or Redhill please call 01737 888220.

Come and say hi to the team, you won’t miss us as we’ll be fully kitted out in our Move Revolution garb! ENJOY!
