Oxted Pram Race 2018 – Join in the fun

Oxted Pram Race – this coming weekend – we can’t wait!

Members of the Move Revolution team have really enjoyed taking part in the Oxted Pram Race and want to ‘share the love’ with you…

To encourage you to take part!

Or

To pop the date in your diary – it’s a great family day out!

This year the Oxted Pram Race is taking place on Sunday 1stJuly. We bet you are asking…so what is it all about?! The Pram Race is run by the Rotary, and has been going since 1977.  It was set up with the ultimate objective of raising money for local causes, and of course, having lots and lots of fun whilst in the process.

If you would love to take part, participating in the event is really quite simple – all you have to pay is an entry fee and get sponsored.  You will be asking family and friends to sponsor you to run the two thirds of a mile from Master Park to The Bell in Old Oxted High Street, however…(and this is the really fun part) …you do need to push a pram in fancy dress! There are prizes as well as penalties depending on how well you do.

It really is a fantastic day out – fun for all the family as well as all the contestants. For those of you who have previously joined in the fun you will already know to come with a water gun/blaster and water balloons! The addition of water is great to cool down those taking part (and also incredible fun for those of you with a water gun/blaster!)  Which award would you like to win!

  • Fastest Adult Men
  • Fastest Adult Women
  • Fastest Adult Mix
  • Fastest Youth
  • Best Fancy Dress Youth
  • Best Fancy Dress Adult
  • Best Pram

For the adults this race involves seven “refreshment” stops. A half pint/spritzer at Master Park, British Legion, Cricket Club, The Wheatsheaf, The Crown, The George, finishing at The Old Bell pub.

It really doesn’t matter if you are taking part, or watching the fun, you will have a great time, and if pushing a pram just isn’t your thing – why not get involved by helping on the day?

This year something very exciting is happening!

‘The Happening’ (the original porcelain potty/cup) has been dusted off ready for the winning 2018 team.  ‘The Happening’ was first awarded to the fastest team in the augural race 41 years ago.

Interesting fact!

The cup is called ‘The Happening’, because all those years ago the founding organisers of the pram race noticed people saying that not much ever happened in Oxted. So they organised the Pram Race and the winning cup was called the ‘The Happening’. Then people could talk about what was happening!

For more details please go to www.oxtedpramrace.co.uk. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Thinking of moving to the local area and want to find out more about living in Oxted, visiting The Pram Race 2018 is a brilliant way of seeing Oxted and saying hello to those joining in the fun. Oxted is packed with gorgeous shops and cafes… why not take the opportunity to have a look around!

Southwater Village – a hidden gem

Discover Southwater Village…

It’s so easy to drive past a turn that would take take you to one of the stunning villages and towns throughout Surrey, Sussex and Kent… and you would never get to see them!

We were chatting in the office, over a cup of tea, and thought it would be a great idea for us to share our ‘insider knowledge’ about the places we love. Today we want to share with you all about the village of Southwater – and who better to show us around than Ross Margetts, one of our Sales Manager who lives in the village.

What do you love about the village of Southwater?

Having grown up in a large town I was quite apprehensive about moving to a village, however 2 years down the line and I wouldn’t change anything for the world!

There are many reasons why I love living in Southwater, being surrounded by countryside is a key factor; often on my drive home, along the Worthing Road I can’t help but spot the cows in their field and can often hear them ‘moo-ing’ from my house.  You can be in the heart of the countryside within minutes and there are some beautiful cycle rides and country walks on my doorstep. Although it’s only a small village it has everything you need for day-to-day life. The Co-op is excellent for those little bits and pieces you need to grab quickly (I always end up picking up extra things!) however, it’s only around 7 minutes in the car to the centre of Horsham… in fact it’s quicker for me to get into the town from the village than from some parts of Horsham.

The village has a really friendly feel and it is very family orientated, everyone is so pleasant – we often walk Rosie around the village (our pet pug) and we are regularly stopped by families to say hello (although I’m sure they really just want to say hello to Rosie!)

What is the best place to have coffee?

It has to be The Little Teahouse which is in the village centre in Lintot Square.  The vanilla and blueberry sponge is to die for.. and the coffee is always wonderful! As suggested by the name… they also serve and excellent pot of tea.

Gorgeous Walks – where would you recommend taking a walk around / near the village?

You are totally spoilt for choice.  For families needing a shorter walk (and perhaps a play area) I would highly recommend the Country Park. There’s approximately 90 acres to explore, and, very importantly there’s a good cafe within the Country Park.  If you fancy walking even further or jumping on a bike then The Downs Link is the best bet. The Downs Link is an old disused railway line which runs down to Shoreham, although this is a little too far for our Rosie’s little paws.  We often use Rosie as an excuse to stop off at The Box Castle Pub, which I would highly recommend for a cold pint on a warm summers day.

Click here for a brilliant map of The Down’s Link…

Wonderful places to go ‘for dinner’

There’s a selection of eateries very close by, either within the village or a short drive away. Within the village is Haldi the local family run Curry House, The Bax Castle Pub is within walking distance of the village – this has a rustic feel set in the countryside.  For more of a ‘wine and dine’ experience then it would be best to pop into Horsham here you will find a wide selection of the usual high street restaurant chains, however, for something a little more fancy Tristan’s is my recommendation.  It’s a Michelin star restaurant which which is in a 16th Century setting.  Tristan’s specialises in modern British food with a French edge – it is incredible (take a look at these stunning photographs from their website!)

How easy is it to get to Southwater?

I’m not sure I should be telling everyone exactly how easy it is to get to Southwater Village! The A24 links both ends of the village which provides really easy access to the South Coast as well as up towards Gatwick or Dorking via the M23 / M25.  You have the choice of Christ’s Hospital Railway Station or Horsham Railway Station, which is very slightly quicker.

Tempted!

Would you love to live in the village of Southwater.  Just give Louise, Damian or Adam a call to chat about properties we currently have available.

If you would like to find out about another ‘hidden gem’ of a village or town in Surrey, Surrey or Kent we would love to help you find your dream location, we can’t wait to hear from you 0330 223 1000

Incredible Reviews!

We take great pride in our excellent customer service – don’t just take our word for it, have a read of one or two of our 682 reviews (at time of publishing)

“We were recommended Move Revolution to sell our house last year but decided to go with another agent. This was such a mistake! When our house didn’t sell we came back to Move Revolution. Damian was very personable and got the house sold in a short time and it was great being able to contact them 7 days a week. This means you get feedback from viewings very quickly. Following the sale of the house we were supported by Sue to get the process completed. This became lengthy and stressful (in no way due to Move Revolution). Sue went above and beyond her role, managing to get information from our buyers Solicitor that no-one else could. Sue was very friendly throughout the process and didn’t seem to mind the frequent phone calls I made to find out what was going on and to air my frustration. Sue was very sympathetic and friendly throughout and despite her busy job, was always up to date with our situation and I never had to repeat information. I honestly cannot recommend highly enough.Claire – June 2018

“A friend recently persuaded me to change estate agents to Move Revolution. My house had been on the market for 6 months with another firm. Louise Simpson from Move Revolution offered honest advice on how I could make inexpensive improvements to make my house more marketable. She wasn’t one of the pushy estate agent clan that I have become accustomed to over the years… She was refreshingly honest and knowledgable and offered a fair fee package. I had three sensible offers in the first two weeks of listing the property. Louise negotiated one of these offers to my full asking price! I’m over the moon with the service I have received. Strongly recommend Louise if you have a house to sell! Thanks again!” Ashley – April 2018
