Last but not least! More Move Revolution Kids Active Village partners!

Our final blog to introduce our partners joining us at the Move Revolution Kids Active Village at Run Reigate on 17th September – we can’t wait!

We are thrilled with the list of sports clubs and businesses we have joining us at the Move Revolution Kids Active Village this year, and we had a chat with some of them to hear all about what they have planned and how you can find out more about them:

Rugbytots

Thank you for being part of Move Revolution’s Kids Active Village 2017. What are you looking forward to?

We are looking forward to meeting lots of local children and introducing them to the sport we love. We think it is great that children can try a wide range of different activities and can experience sports they otherwise would not have access to.

Tell us about your business. When were you founded and how has it developed since then?

Rugbytots was founded in 2006 when the owner, Max, could not find a rugby based activity for his young children. The aim was to create a fun play program that introduces young children to the sport of Rugby, that helps develop their physical and social skills and that prepares them for joining a local rugby team.  The company now teaches over 40,000 children in 16 countries on 5 continents. We continue to grow as a company providing more work for coaches and more classes for the local communities.

What do you enjoy most about running your business?

Working for a company that is offering services to children is always rewarding. We are giving young children an opportunity to participate in a great sport and to develop socially and physically with the classes. We have had a large number of our members go on to continue with local rugby clubs and to know we played a part in there Rugby journey is fantastic.

Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?

Our motto is simple; “make it more fun”. We do this by delivering our specifically designed programme for each age group with energy, enthusiasm and excitement. This creates an atmosphere in the class that is totally unique and engaging for parents and children alike.

How can we find out more about you? Do you have any joining offers/free try out sessions?

GLL – AKA the organisation that runs our local leisure centres Donyngs, Horley and Tamworth!

Thank you for being part of Move Revolution’s Kids Active Village 2018. What are you looking forward to?

GLL have supported the event since it started and love the mixture of people all coming out to support a loved on or see what’s on offer in the beautiful Priory park.

Tell us about your business. When were you founded and how has it developed since then?

GLL is a not for profit charitable social enterprise founded in 1993 and operating under the Customer brand BETTER. We’re committed to providing access to quality community facilities – and more – at a price everyone can afford. In Reigate and Banstead we manage Tadworth Leisure and Community Centre, Donyngs Leisure centre and Horley Leisure Centre. We offer a wide range of activities for the whole family including, gymnastics, swimming, football, tennis, walking Football and Fitness classes.

What do you enjoy most about working as part of your business?

My role as a Community Sport Manager allows me to meet lots of people and arrange interesting projects and events. I like the diversity this brings and the interesting people I meet along the way. We have also recently launch the GLL Community Foundation which helps local projects with funding, facilities and support that encourages people to be active, to learn and to play together. Projects could include organising a sports tournament or improving a community library to creating a new sports league or revamping a children’s playground. GLL is offering up to £5,000 worth of cash and in kind support to community projects across the UK through their new GLL Community Foundation in partnership with Spacehive.

What has been your most memorable event/milestone to date?

GLL partnered with Sport Relief in 2016 and I was lucky enough to be part of the project team. GLL raised over £375,000 for charities in the UK and oversees. I felt extremely proud of what GLL was able to achieve with staff and customers hard work and generosity.

What does the future hold for your business?

GLL are an expanding organisation managing leisure centres, libraries and children centres all over the UK including, London, Cardiff, Belfast, Manchester and Cornwall. We are looking to expand and enhance our offer to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our communities.

Reigate Martial Arts

Thank you for being part of Move Revolution’s Kids Active Village 2018. What are you looking forward to?

As a regular to the Move Revolution village in Run Reigate, we love meeting all the local  kids. There is always a great vibe and everyone seems really motivated towards fitness. It’s a huge honour for us to work with local kids to help them towards an active lifestyle.

Tell us about your club. When were you founded and how has it developed since then?

Reigate Martial Arts is on Bell Street in the heart of Reigate town centre. We have been open for 3 years now teaching Brazilian jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Muay Thai. All our instructors are passionate about their sports and this comes across in our members and teaching.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

Martial Arts are not easy! Most people come to them with little or no knowledge and often pretty out of shape. Its great to see people develop both mentally and physically without even knowing they are. We regularly get nervious and unfit people come in and in a few months they turn into confident healthy individuals.

What has been your most memorable event/milestone to date?

One of the great things about our sports are seeing adults develop into positive role models to their children. We have so many people who have joined us and become part of the community we have created. I would say one of the biggest milestones is actually creating a family at the gym.

What does the future hold for your business?

We are looking to develop the gym and its programs further in the future. We have a great BJJ team with some strong competitors. Our kickboxing and Muay Thai programs are newer but they are showing amazing promise which is a credit to the skill of the instructors we have.

How can we find out more about you (web and social links)? Do you have any joining offers/free try out sessions?
